Inflation, rates and liquidity: the fuel the market runs on before any technical analysis. Also called: macro desk. Finviro's term: “Macro Environment”.
What it means
The Macro Environment (Macro Environment) is the general weather every asset moves in: the path of interest rates and liquidity, the health of growth and employment, the direction of inflation, and the risk appetite that all of these produce. No stock moves in a vacuum. Individual stories play out on this stage.
Why it comes before stock picking
The environment favors some groups and fails others before any single-stock analysis: monetary tightening presses long-duration growth stocks however bright their stories, while easing and liquidity lift even the average ones. Whoever reads the environment first knows which game is being played: attack, defense or waiting.
Its components we measure
The path of rates and the yield curve · Net Liquidity (Net Liquidity) and its components · growth, employment and inflation indicators · and the dollar as the valve of global liquidity. They feed a confluence model that issues one updated verdict: risk appetite or aversion.
Hypothetical example
A stock with excellent numbers in a tightening, shrinking-liquidity environment: it holds up for months, then drifts down with its group when rates get repriced. The mistake wasn't the stock but ignoring the stage. The same average stock in an easing environment can double.
Common mistake
Skipping it on the grounds of "I only trade the chart": the chart is itself a product of its environment. Bounces that work in a liquid market fail in a contracting one, and the two regimes can't be told apart from candles alone.
Why it is reviewed regularly, not once
The environment changes, and a strategy that fits one turns into a loser in the next. Six months of profit from selling premium can vanish in one week of negative gamma if the seller didn't read the regime change. So periodic review is part of the tool, not decoration.
Where to see it on the platform
The macro map combines the components into one verdict, and the indicator bar shows its live summary at the top of every page.
The market regime dashboard issues the composite verdict and the history of its changes, so you see the shifts, not just a snapshot.
