The moment liquidity on one side overtakes the other, a switch in side rather than in intensity. Sometimes mislabeled as flipping of the dominant side; the platform's term is Flow Crossover.
What this crossover is
A Flow Crossover (Flow Crossover) is the moment control shifts between call flow and put flow. The two cumulative premium lines meet and one crosses the other. The session's money was in protection and is now in bullish bets, or the reverse. It is a change of mood, measured in dollars.
Why it earns a marker
Most sessions start with one side ahead and keep it. A true crossover is a minority event worth noticing: something (a release, a break, a statement) repriced the mood. A crossover that holds for an hour is more trustworthy than a flash that reverses within minutes.
Reading it with the map
A bullish crossover near a put wall that holds makes full sense: the protection has lost its purpose and the money is turning. Structure and behavior agree. A crossover in the middle of empty price space carries less weight, however sharp it looks.
Hypothetical example
A nervous open sees put premium take the lead. Around mid-session the call line crosses above it after a bounce off the wall and stays ahead until the close. The session told the story of fear giving way, and the crossover was the title of chapter two.
Common mistake
Trading a crossover as an instant trigger: near expirations and around auctions, lines cross for purely mechanical reasons. A crossover marks a chapter break in a story, and the whole story is worth reading.
What a crossover tells you
A Flow Crossover says the direction of money changed before price did. Net flow turning positive while price is still falling points to accumulation, and the reverse points to distribution. Its value is in leading price, not matching it, so read it as an early warning rather than a late confirmation.
Where to see it on the platform
The Net Flow page marks crossovers on the chart with their times, and the indicator bar counts the session's reversals in the flow field.
The flow tools show the net figure and its path, and the macro panel puts it in the context of overall liquidity.
