Levels where huge gamma builds up, acting as natural barriers that block or speed up the stock's move.
Some sources also spell the Arabic term with a different letter. The meaning is the same.
What these walls are
Gamma Walls (Gamma Walls) are the strikes where the gamma of open interest piles up unusually. Market makers' hedging peaks there, so the strikes act as mechanical barriers. The Call Wall is a sticky ceiling above the market, and the Put Wall is a floor beneath it.
How they work mechanically
In a positive gamma regime, the closer price gets to a wall, the stronger the opposing hedge: automatic selling near the Call Wall and automatic buying near the Put Wall. The result is a move that compresses at the walls and often bounces off them. Nobody is “defending” the level. The math forces it.
When they break
A wall is a friction barrier, not a concrete one. Huge real flow (news, data, panic) can break through it, and then its role changes. A broken wall becomes a point of acceleration, because hedging flips from resisting the move to chasing it. The map also resets at every expiration, when whole layers of contracts disappear.
Hypothetical example
An index swings for a full week between a Put Wall at 5900 and a Call Wall at 6000. Every drop gets bought mechanically near the first, and every rally gets sold near the second. That is an explicit mechanical range. Friday's expiration dissolved the pile-up, and the market broke out on Monday.
Common mistake
Treating a wall as a directional target: it describes today's balance of forces and is not a prediction. It moves as open interest changes, and yesterday's wall may not exist today.

Where to see it on the platform
The Gamma dashboard draws the walls on the price map for each symbol and refreshes them with every calculation cycle during the session.
