It calibrates the windows of the other indicators automatically.
The short answer
- What is the Hilbert dominant cycle period (HT Dominant Cycle Period)?
- Hilbert dominant cycle period: the length of the dominant cycle, in candles.
- When is HT Dominant Cycle Period wrong?
- It assumes a cycle exists in the first place. See its current reading on the platform's symbols, at the latest daily close, in the "Reading now" table on this page. See its reading now →

A description of where the number sits against its thresholds. It is not an entry or exit signal.
Indicator limit
It assumes a cycle exists in the first place.
Read it with
Relative Strength Index: set its length from RSI, half the cycle, instead of a fixed 14.
Answers: is it moving in a cycle?
What it actually does
Measuring the dominant cycle length with the Hilbert transform produces one number: how many sessions the market takes to finish its current cycle from low to low. The number changes live as the market's rhythm changes. If a cycle shortens from thirty sessions to fifteen, the measurement catches it as it happens.
What the cycle number is for
It is the adaptive window calibrator. Every fixed-window indicator (average · oscillator · channel) assumes a certain rhythm, and the conventions (14 · 20 · 50) are only general guesses. Setting the window to half the measured cycle length, as the method suggests, keeps the indicator in step with the asset's actual rhythm instead of a borrowed convention.
How it is used in practice
Use it as an input, not an indicator. Advanced systems read it and periodically reset the windows of their tools with it. Watching it directly also helps: a sudden shortening of the cycle means a market whose rhythm is speeding up, an environment changing before prices do.
Hypothetical example
A 14-period oscillator works well for months, then its accuracy collapses. Measuring the cycle shows the asset's rhythm moved from 28 sessions to 40, so the old window was now measuring a bit more than half a cycle instead of exactly half. Resetting the window to 20 restores the sync.
Where it errs and why
In a market with no dominant cycle it still outputs a number, a measurement of something that is not there. It also jumps around at turning points, so rely on its recent average, not a single reading.
Read it with
It is not read alone. The environment is classified with the trend strength indicator, confirmed with volume, and placed on the structural levels from the gamma map, since a signal at a dense wall carries more weight than one in open space.
