Unusual options activity on October 23, 2026: the top five stocks

You see heavy volume on a stock's options and can't tell whether it is routine daily trading or new positions being built.

These are the five stocks whose contracts met the conditions for unusual options activity (UOA) , ranked by total premium (paid) paid.

The short answer

Which stock led unusual options activity on October 23, 2026?
AMZN: 4 unusual contracts with 7.4M$ in premium, 100% of it on calls.
What is unusual options activity?
A contract traded far more today than its existing open interest, with a large premium paid and a meaningful time to expiry. It points to new positions being built, not routine daily trading.
Does heavy call buying mean the stock will rise?
No. Premium shows where money was paid, not who bought and who sold. A call can be bought to bet on a rise or sold to collect premium. We show the call and put split and do not call a direction.

“Volume vs open interest”: the highest ratio among the stock's contracts of today's volume to open interest before the session. Three times means today's trading was three times what was already open.

How do we pick these stocks?

A contract enters the list when all the conditions meet in the same session:

  • Today's volume is at least 2× open interest.
  • Premium paid of $250,000 or more.
  • Delta, directional sensitivity Between 0.10 and 0.90: no contract too far from price and no substitute for the stock itself.
  • At least 3 days to expiry.
  • An average trade of 10 contracts or more, or large trades of 100 contracts making up 40% of today's volume.
  • Volume-to-open-interest ratio 2× the median for the same stock's contracts today, so a day when the whole chain is busy does not count as an event.

Then we add up each stock's contracts and rank the stocks by total premium. Indices and funds are left out because their contracts are much larger than a single stock's. Read more about unusual options activity in the glossary.

This is a reading of what happened in the market, not a recommendation to buy or sell.

Behind the number: which contract exactly, and when did it trade?

In the contract flow you get every contract with its strike and expiry, the change in its open interest, the time of its peak trading, and the gamma levels for the same stock.
