The technical signals the trade was built on. Finviro's term: “Setup”.
What these conditions are
A Setup (Setup) is the combination, defined in advance, that must come together before any trade: a structure (a pivot level, a suitable gamma environment) + a signal (price and volume behavior at the level) + a context (a probable trend that does not oppose). A checklist that turns trading from impressions into a profession.
Why it separates a trader from a gambler
Because it moves the decision from the moment of temptation to a calm hour: the conditions were written in the evening with a cool head, and in the morning the market either met them or did not. The entry decision becomes matching, not improvising under pressure. It is also the unit of measurement: a hundred trades from the same setup are a sample you can judge, while a hundred scattered hunches are noise you cannot learn from.
The economics of waiting
A professional trader hunts conditions, not moves. Most sessions never complete the conditions, so he does nothing. Skipping everything short of them is the edge itself, because a trader who trades everything that moves spreads capital over randomness and earns the market average minus costs.
Hypothetical example
A written setup: 'bounce off a structural call wall + volume above twice the average + a probable trend that is not down'. Over three weeks it appeared complete only four times. That gives four trades you can measure and review, instead of forty hunches with no logic holding them together.
Common mistake
Watering down the conditions out of boredom: 'volume is short but the rest is complete'. A trade with a missing condition is not part of the sample at all, and mixing it into the method's log corrupts the statistics, so you can no longer tell what works.
Why staying out is part of it
Most sessions never meet the full conditions, and skipping everything short of them is the edge itself. A trader who trades everything that moves spreads capital over randomness and earns the market average minus costs. A trade with a missing condition is not part of the sample at all.
Where to see it on the platform
The signal model builds each idea with its conditions in plain view, and the trading journal sorts trades by setup so each family is measured on its own.
