The prevailing market state: stable and range-bound, or volatile and fast-moving. It decides which strategy works today. Finviro's term: “Market Regime”.
What this regime is
Market regime (Market Regime) is the big-picture label for the market's current state: a calm uptrend, a nervous and volatile market, a falling or collapsing one, or a neutral sideways one. It is not a forecast but a diagnosis. Which game is being played right now? Each regime has tools that work and tools that get punished.
What the reading is built from
From several layers that cross-check each other: the gamma regime (absorbing or amplifying?), the volatility level, its rank and its term structure, breadth of participation (is the whole army rising or only the generals?), and the behavior of safe havens and liquidity. One combined verdict from many measures, not a single magic indicator.
Why it is the first decision
Because the right strategy in the wrong regime loses. Selling premium thrives in a calm sideways market and gets crushed in a crash, while chasing breakouts pays in a strong trend and bleeds in chop. An experienced trader asks "what is the regime?" before "what is the trade?" A mistake on the first is not fixed by skill on the second.
Hypothetical example
Dense positive gamma, volatility near its lows, a deep contango term structure and healthy breadth: a typical calm, grinding uptrend. It suits income strategies and wears out buyers of sudden spikes. If two of the four flip, re-diagnose rather than dig in.
Common mistake
Sticking to the last regime's playbook after it changes: six months of premium-selling gains in a calm market can vanish in one negative-gamma week if you miss the shift. Review the regime regularly, not once.
Where to see it on the platform
The market regime panel gives the combined verdict with its visible components and its history of changes, so you see the regime and its shifts, not an isolated snapshot.
